Applications

Acrylic parts made to your drawing

01 / EQUIPMENT

Panels & windows

Instrument panels, inspection windows and covers with mounting holes and cut-outs. Mark the clear viewing area and visible face.

02 / IDENTIFICATION

Signs & labels

Engraved text, logos and legends on cut acrylic plates. Include artwork size, orientation and fixing details.

03 / ASSEMBLY

Covers & dividers

Flat enclosure panels, separators and mounting pieces. Specify how the parts attach and where clearance is required.

04 / DISPLAY

Display components

Base plates, support pieces and slotted components. For interlocking parts, provide the mating dimensions and required fit.

Material options

Choose the appearance and sheet type

Clear, coloured, frosted and mirror describe the appearance. Cast and extruded describe how the sheet is made. Specify both where they matter to the part.

Clear

For viewing panels and transparent components. Define the visible area, acceptable surface marks and any optical requirement.

Coloured & opal

Specify the colour code or approved sample, and whether the sheet should be transparent, translucent or opaque.

Frosted

For a textured or diffused appearance. Confirm one-sided or two-sided finish and the face that will be displayed.

Mirror

Identify the reflective face and backing. Sheet construction, cutting suitability and mounting requirements need review.

Colour and finish availability are confirmed with the quotation. Use a physical sample for colour matching.

Cast acrylic

Often considered for engraved plates and fabricated components. For slots or close fits, check the supplied sheet’s thickness tolerance rather than relying only on its nominal size.

Extruded acrylic

May suit repeat flat parts where sheet thickness consistency matters. Review the engraving result and any later bonding or coating on the selected product.

Processing

Cutting, engraving & edge requirements

We review the finished-part drawing before confirming the process, tolerances and additional work.

Laser-cut profiles

External shapes, holes, slots and internal openings from the cutting file. Small details and narrow sections are checked against the thickness and material. See our non-metal cutting service.

Engraved details

Text, logos and panel legends from approved artwork. State the viewing side, marking position and required appearance. Engraving contrast depends on the sheet type and finish; sample approval may be appropriate.

Holes & fitted features

Threads, countersinks and close-fit holes may require secondary work. Specify the mating fastener and critical dimensions. Drilling or machining is confirmed in the quotation.

Visible & joining edges

Identify edges that remain visible or will be bonded. A glossy laser-cut edge can still contain residual stress. Tell us about later adhesive, solvent or printing processes so the preparation can be reviewed.

This page covers acrylic parts and processing. Heat bending, bonded boxes, printing and complete assemblies require separate confirmation.

Thickness, holes & fit

Thickness affects cut-edge appearance, taper and the size of practical details. Thin sections and narrow webs can be fragile; thicker parts may need closer review of holes and mating edges.

Specify the fit you need, especially for tabs, slots and panels held in channels. The actual sheet thickness and the cutting allowance both affect the result.

For screw-fixed panels, provide hole positions, edge distances and the mounting arrangement. Allow for material movement and avoid a design that forces the panel into place.

Surface & handling

Protect the faces that matter

Mark the front and rear faces on the drawing. For clear panels, identify the viewing area and agree the acceptable surface condition.

Protective film must be suitable for the cutting process. Confirm whether film should remain on the delivered parts, and specify separate packing where finished faces could rub together.

Use cleaners and adhesives compatible with the selected sheet. Incompatible chemicals can cause crazing or cracks, particularly around stressed edges and holes.

For your Singapore project

  • State indoor, outdoor or direct-sun exposure.
  • Identify cleaning chemicals and nearby heat sources.
  • Provide the mounting method and service conditions.
  • Include the receiving date, address and packaging requirements.

A viewing window is not automatically an impact-resistant safety guard. For machinery protection or impact risk, the material and design need a separate safety assessment. See polycarbonate vs acrylic.

Questions

Acrylic fabrication FAQ

Should I choose cast or extruded acrylic?

The choice depends on engraving, thickness tolerance and later operations such as bonding. Send the intended use and fit requirements, or specify the exact sheet product if your drawing already defines it.

Can I order clear, coloured, frosted or mirror acrylic?

Include the required colour or finish in your enquiry. Sheet availability and suitability for the requested processing are confirmed before quotation. For colour matching, provide a product code or approved physical sample.

Will the cut edges need polishing?

Some laser-cut edges are suitable as supplied. Visible edges, bonding edges and precision fits may need a different finish or secondary preparation. Mark the required condition on the drawing.

Can you make complete acrylic boxes or bent covers?

Heat bending, bonding and full assembly are reviewed separately. Send a finished-part drawing so the available scope can be confirmed rather than quoting only the flat pieces.

Can I supply my own acrylic sheet?

Provide the sheet manufacturer, product type, thickness, coating and protective-film details for review. Material identity and condition need to be confirmed before laser processing.
